Eligibility Criteria:
Be an international student (i.e., a non-Canadian requiring a study permit).
Even if you are already working, you may apply and come to Canada while continuing your studies.
Be an original and creative thinker committed to school and community.
Demonstrate strong academic performance.
Be enthusiastic about learning and intellectual exploration.
Understand and speak one of Canada’s teaching languages (French or English) fluently.
Becoming a Scholar:
Selected candidates, after review of their applications and systematic selection, will be contacted by the administration or the representative office. University admission and obtaining a study permit are the student’s responsibility.
Choosing a Major:
Once awarded the scholarship, students may choose their field of study. Students are encouraged to select a major based on their academic abilities, professional goals, and the aim of “giving back” to their home country. Students are advised not to choose a major that does not personally interest them. Laval University will provide guidance on how students can “give back” to their community or country. Those wishing to study medicine or engineering must have high scores in mathematics and sciences in their GCSE/Baccalaureate exams.
Laval University considers students’ goals and preferences but reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the choice of major.
Choosing a University:
The Laval University team will assign universities to scholarship recipients based on their chosen field of study.
NOTE: A Laval University scholarship may be revoked by the competent authorities, and the scholar may be required to reimburse incurred expenses in the following cases:
Violation of personal ethics
Inadequacy or negligence in studies
Failure to meet obligations
Acceptance of employment during the study period
